Snowy Morning

It was all too early on a Sunday morning. Incessant buzzing filled the room, threading through my most pleasant dreams. I understood how the Grinch felt-eyes tightly closed and a tension in my back and shoulders. I slapped my alarm clock just enough to quiet its whining and teach it an important lesson. When I figure out that lesson I'll let you know. I could hear the sounds of my neighbor's rooster faintly through my bedroom window. Warmth settled on my face, then spread through my body as the shadows fell away. I squinted in that lazy moment and my awareness began to stir. A figure before me. She was sitting on me, kissing my face. My smile grew as large as my heart.
